About Sweetly Iced

Sweetly Iced!

Welcome to Sweetly Iced at Blogspot!  I'm Jennifer the creator of Sweetly Iced.  Sweetly Iced was created about six years ago when I was starting up my cake decorating store for the home baker.  I started the business with the intention of teaching the home baker how to create beautiful 'Sugar Art' for their friends and family; my way--my techniques, tips, and ideas.  Honestly, it was self-gratifying to be connected with others with my passion.  Well, my passion for baking and cake decorating powered the beginning of my personal business from the ground up.  I love teaching other people how to create something beautiful with their own hands.  I love to see something from scratch become something delicious and sometimes too beautiful to eat!  I also love to have a dream or idea come to fruition.  I can't say that every idea or recipe is a success, but the beauty of cooking and baking is that you can also try it again!

While my store did not stay open for long due to my family having to move, it was a definite success and something that I am proud of.  Although I tried to quiet the passion that I have for the sugar arts,  the passion for it remained strong.  So one weekend in April 2011, I decided to blog.  "What ever for?", I thought a week later.  With the crazy busy life that I have already, I did not need one more thing on my plate; but I've rediscovered my passion to create and bake through sharing on this blog.  Who would have thought? Not me!  Baking makes me happy!

Anyway, my goal is to bake on a regular basis (maybe every two weeks, if my friends will continue to be my taste testers ;)  and then blog about each adventure.  I hope that you will enjoy trying the recipes.  I would also love to hear about your experiences.  And while I do love baking, I also enjoy cooking.  So I also hope to make the time to cook quick and easy recipes to share with you.  I have found that the best foods for my family are the ones that my husband Jim and I cook at home.  They are healthier and tastier for our kids while better for our waistlines!  And while it is easy to just order out, we have found that through planning, keeping to a family food budget, and staying on a schedule; we can save money while providing healthier meals for our family.  I hope that no matter what life throws at us, that we will be able to continue with our plan of healthier meals.

You may be wondering how "healthy" and "baking" go together, right?  Well, in my mind....it is better since I know what goes into my food, and I get to choose the quality of the ingredients, so therefore,.....it is healthier....That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Well, I hope that you enjoy this blog.  Feel free to contact me if you  want to share something, I love discussing food and new recipes.  Friends, you're always welcome to come over and cook/bake with me.  I love the company!  Just know that I usually bake at night, but you're always welcome to crash on the sofa and in return for my fabulous company, you'll have to clean up the kitchen!   LOL!

I hope that every day is a Sweetly Iced day!

Love,
Jen
